Ankeny Dog Park

South West Goodwin and South Ankeny Road

The Ankeny Dog Park officially opened on Friday, September 17, 2010. One of only a handful in the state, the dog park is 7.5 acres that will allow dogs of all sizes to run freely in an entirely fenced in area. The park features a half acre pond, separate small and large dog areas and open green space for your dog to run. Future amenities include a shelter and trail throughout the park.

Great park..!! People please purchase your dog park tags before you come. You can purchase a tag from hyvee , that helps keep it nice and the people are usually legit dog people.. Kids under 10 not allowed for safety reasons , which makes sense to me.. The dogs can really get running around ! This is a great park for legit dog people, follow the rules or don't come in... :)

The Ankeny Dog Park is very spacious and had a nice little fenced in swimming pond for dogs and a cinder path for walking while your dog is playing. Outside of the dog park there was a children's playground and a walking path. There isn't much shade to speak of and they needed a few more trash bins and play things for the dogs. There were drinking fountains for the dogs and people, which was a good thing and plenty of poop bags!

We have 2 little dogs, and we love that this park has separate areas for small and large breeds. There are dog water fountains in both sides which make going there easier, as we don't have to make sure to bring our own.

Our dog loves this park! Wide open spaces, gravel paths, a swimming pond, and several friendly dogs that come to visit. Ankeny did a great job at planning this park by separating areas for larger/smaller dog breeds and by giving ample space for pets that may be nervous with interactions. The water fountain that has a doggie fountain attached is great for warm days! The park is kept nice and clean because owners police each other in cleaning up after the animals.

Love this dog park! It does require a license for your dog that you can get at a nearby Hy-vee. Both large and small dog sections have a walking trail. Big dog area has a separate fenced in pond. Everything is always well taken care of and loaded with supplies (water, dishes, and poop bags). We are there all the time we love it so much!
